What is EV Charging Time Calculator?
The EV Charging Time Calculator helps estimate how long your electric vehicle takes to charge from 0% to 100% using different home charging setups in India. This free online tool calculates approximate charging duration for electric scooters, bikes, and cars based on battery capacity, charging efficiency, and charger power.
How to Use EV Charging Time Calculator?
To use the EV Charging Time Calculator, first choose whether you want to calculate charging time for a two-wheeler or four-wheeler EV using the toggle switch. Then select your battery capacity from the dropdown list or choose the custom option to enter your own battery size manually. After that, enter your home electricity setup or charger capacity, such as a standard home socket or fast AC charger. Select initial and desired battery charging % level. Once you click the “Calculate Charging Time” button, the tool will instantly estimate the approximate time required to charge your EV battery from 0% to 100% or from selected level to desired level under normal charging conditions.

FAQs
Why does my EV take longer to charge from 80% to 100%?
This is due to the "Charging Curve." To protect the battery's health and prevent overheating, the Battery Management System (BMS) slows down the flow of electricity as the battery nears full capacity. It is often faster to charge from 20% to 80% than it is to complete the final 20%.
Can I speed up my charging time by using a higher-capacity home socket?
Only if your vehicle’s Onboard Charger (OBC) supports it. For example, if your scooter is designed for a 5A (0.35 kW) input, plugging it into a 15A socket won't make it charge faster. However, for cars, upgrading from a standard 3.3kW portable charger to a 7.4kW AC wallbox can cut your charging time by more than half.
Does the outdoor temperature affect how long it takes to charge my EV?
Yes. In extreme Indian summers, the BMS may reduce charging speeds to keep the battery cells cool. Similarly, in very cold temperatures, the chemical reaction inside the battery slows down. Our calculator provides an "Approximate Time" based on ideal conditions, but real-world times may vary by 10-20% depending on the weather.
